In bad weather or in winter, solar output will reduce anywhere from 25–50%. During night time, solar panels do not produce energy. If you have a battery, excess energy generated during the day can be stored and used at night, effectively giving you access to solar power 24hrs a day.

This is where batteries come in handy — storing energy created in excess during the day to supply essential power during a blackout. Talk to your solar consultant about Backup / Emergency Power Supplies (EPS) options.

Surplus solar energy generated beyond your home usage and battery storage capacity is exported to the NZ national grid. Your power retailer credits your account on your monthly bill.
